Petrichor sounds like the moment when everything stands still for a moment after a warm summer rain. Andreas Polyzogopoulos’ trumpet narrates with a soft, breathing tone – restrained, almost fragile – while Klampanis’ bass and Riahi’s piano create an open, flowing space.
The album lives less from virtuosity than from atmosphere. It is chamber music jazz that leaves space between the notes and draws tension from pausing. Mediterranean melodies, modern harmonies and subtle dynamics combine to create a sound that does not push, but carries.
A work for attentive listeners – quiet, profound and full of nuances.
